[Air Mauritius Cause]

Dear all,

In what are fast becoming the most challenging of times across the world, we’d like to invite all our associates, friends and family and most importantly all fellow Mauritians to take a minute to this cause and with a bit of positive thinking and we might make a difference.

At present, with this recession which is affecting the whole world, Solidarity is mandatory in this precarious time amongst us Mauritians.


This group recognises the Value of our National airline. We have seen in the recent past so many National Airlines being affected by tremendous financial instability. We should be proud to have a small Airline which is up to the challenge to stand firm "dans la cour des grands".


From our small Island like Mauritius, our national airline was established in 1967 and after with a humble operation in 1972 we started with a six seater Piper PA-31 Navajo aircraft & internationally after 5 years with a Boeing 707. There after during the 70s & 80s , our Paille en Queue operated Boeing 707 & 747.


We were the first airline of the southern hemisphere to fly the A340 and to acquire, at that time the last ever Airbus A340 -300 type built & delivered to Air Mauritius ( Named “Le Chamarel” – Tail number 3B-NBJ ) even small and still operating "dans la cour des grands" we have a large presence in the European , African and Indian Ocean airports.


Even though previous management were unable to meet business expectations, as well as current management has created a lot of contradicting issues to this organisation, the fact remains it is our National airline. We are proud, while being abroad to see an Air Mauritius plane on a foreign soil.... like Buckland performing the Olympics in Beijing ,while , being abroad in a foreign country watching on tv a Mauritian representing his home flag.


We can blame the previous management, new management, interim management and even forth coming management...!!!! however It is to us young Mauritians the future of tomorrow to take the initiative and realise that "We are one of the few independent islands to have a National Air line." We can only endeavour from all this ordeal that our government will learn a hard lesson that nomination to manage such structure should be based on capacity & effectiveness to deliver productivity towards the well being of our citizens & country and not rewarded Political nominees!!!


This message is address to all our fellow Mauritian Citizens..... , this cause is not to praise the government nor to blame the government or even trying to brush the negativity under the carpet but mainly to raise awareness & demonstrate our pride, particularly to the young Mauritian who will be the future of our homeland and having a deep thought that their children might not... or will never experience the current feeling they are presently experiencing.

This same feeling like some of us might not had, this experience of using a 10 cents / Dix sous... we might be aware of it , being told about it even having seen it.., but will never have the feeling of having used it & seing the latter in action !!!


Therefore, let`s support our national pride and joy. Let`s join this cause to see whether we as the young Mauritians, could make a difference by thinking out of the box than inside the box. To blame is always successful & easy... however When you blame others, we give up the power to change & improve things!
