| ORGANISED BY :CAMPUS YOUTH ALLINACE VENUE :,Mba rara. UGANDA DATE: 26th -29th DECEMBER 2004. EXCUTIVE SUMMARY. The conference is planned for about seventy five (75) youths from all the world, some members of the Non-governmental organisations and youth led organization who are directly involved in these disciplines. The conference is organised to have intensive discussions about the situations of Human Rights demcracy and Ethics in the world today. The participatory approaches of the various non-governmental organisations concern with Human Rights ,democracy ,peace and How the youth people can be influenced to take formal actions to advocate for respect of Human rights ,democracy and model ethics in our society. It is a crucial mean of empowering the youths of this world and other members of the civil societies with the skills for participating in decision making ,transforming their attitudes and behaviors so as to foster among them a sense of respect for one's Rights ,peace and freedoms abiding fully by set Ethical standard of the society. BACKGROUND. World's history is replete with sad massive memories of massive Human Rights violations; thousands of people in most parts of the world have lost their lives and property under mysterious circumstances, many discriminate arrests and detentions without trials, many are tortured and humiliated before their families by state agents, freedoms of Associations and Assembly have been brushed aside, thousands internally displaced from their homes and made Refugees in their own country and what we cherished as fundamental Rights such as The Right to life, liberty, fair hearing ,participation in Government were violated. The ethical moral conducts of the people of this world has been eroded and resulted in to corruption bribery, injustices, immorality, AIDS and above all the gap between the poor and the rich has continued to widen. The youths must therefore be mobilized to play important roles by making every one aware of these critical situations and provide direct collary to strategies for plan of actions which must become a daily reality in our society. Every thing is a matter of information,mobilization, education, awareness and prevention . This youth conference shall therefore enable the youths focus on fostering among the populace a sense of respect for one's dignity and freedoms. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES. 1. To provide public awareness on these issues in order to keep pressure on the government and other civil society to under take these approaches. 2. To instill in the minds of youths the value of Peace, national understanding set ethical standards and cooperation in order to eliminate war, hatred, racism, prejidice intolerance and so on. 3. Equip the youths with knowldege of principles and values of democracy and development which are integral part of Human rights. 4. To share international and organizational experience in the fields of advocacy for Human rights, democracy and ethics. 5. To strengthen the linkages with other youth groups and organizations to foster exchange of experience , information resources and develop common strategies. EXPECTED RESULTS. 1. A new momentum for the preparation , adoption and implementation of national youth plans for Human Rights , peace, democracy and ethical education ,provided through inter alia dissemination of positive experience and best practices ,evaluation of progress made in various regions and organizations. 2. Strengthened partnerships among international institutions and NGOs with experience in the various areas of Human Rights Democracy and Ethics .The aim being to develop an integrated and holistic vision of diverse approaches currently used in these respects. 3. Improved cooperation among principle mechanisms and actors involved, locally or nationally or internationally in promoting peace and non-violence, observance of Rights to Human Rights and democratic principles. 4. Strengthened adoption of international youth polices aimed at ensuring respect of all forms of Human dignity and ethical standards PARTICIPANTS. The participants are mainly youths or students leaders from all youth led institutions from all over the world. such National youth councils and other concerned organizations are nevertheless invited. ORGANISATION. This conference is organised by Campus Youth Alliance in liaison with the office of Uganda Humanist Association. ACTIVITIES: Presentations shall consist of; 1. Keynote and plenary presentations by subject specialist. 2. Parallel sessions 3. Workshops /Working group discussions. 4. Panel discussions.
